When I start up windows 2000 I always get a Program error
message saying " usrbridg.exe has generated errors and
will be closed by windows. You will need to restart the
program. An error log has been created"

When this happens I just click OK in the dialogue box and
windows continues to start up.

Its an annoying error message. can anyone help me with a
solution.

Thanks

andrew

I think I had this problem once on a laptop and it was related to a problem
with the infra red system ... bit of a cop out but as the user never used
infra red I disabled it in the bios and the problem went away

many thanks Steve. My infrared isn't working! When I get
another PC within range the infrared operates for a few
seconds and then the icon disappears.

If they are both related, any ideas how to fix?

Cheers

I think service packing to SP3 puts a MS update called IRCOMM on whihc
resolves the problem. I came across it getting some Nokia 6210 cellphones to
connect via IR if you look on the Nokia website about 6210's IRCOMM and
win2000 it should give some pointers.

The other thing that helps is to limit the the IR transfer speed.

They were Dell and some Toshiba Portege laptops giving the problem
