I'm having this problem, too:
H:\cytex\database>SubInACl /noverbose /file .
Default Sam Server will be linone-3Dg1
It should say "...will be Allinone-3" ; the 1st character is lost and
"Dg1" is garbage.

It seems to me the bug is SubInACL.exe (at least the one last modified
Thursday, December 02, 1999, 14:54:42", from the the FIRST release of
the W2K Resource Kit), when looking up the Default Sam Server name on
Dynamic Disks but NOT Basic Disks, references the name incorrectly
(wrong string offset problably) so gets the name wrong and so fails to
find the server, so can't lookup up SIDs, among other possible
problems from this failure.

And I notice Markus F. Meisinger also finds the SubInACL.exe bug is is
with DYNAMIC DISKS ONLY (see
http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&selm=u4dKtRJeAHA.2000%40tkmsftngp04
)

And at least 4 other people have reported this bug (see
http://groups.google.com/groups?q=SubInAcl+%22Default+Sam+Server%22&hl=en
), though they didn't know why it was happening.

I find no documentation of the SubInACL bug by Microsoft on
www.Microsoft.com/search
nor, sadly, fixes to SubInACL.exe posted on the the W2K Free Tools
Downloads (http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/techinfo/reskit/tools/default.asp
-- SubInACL.exe isn't there).

Nonetheless, Jerold Schulman of JSIInc.com fortunately says that
SUPPLIMENT ONE OF THE W2K RESOURCE KIT FIXES THIS PROBLEM and and
points to http://www.jsiinc.com/SUBG/TIP3200/rh3277.htm which gives
gives details to on Suppliment One and allows you to order it (see
http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&selm=0kdjrt4452956m26ksvifshtp84l230atc%404ax.com
).

If Suppliment One fixes this bug, it's annoying that Microsoft doesn't
release the bug fixes for free download. But, in any case, IF SOMEONE
WOULD MOST KINDLY EMAIL ME THE MOST RECENT (Suppliment One)
SubInACL.EXE, or a URL to it, I'd be glad to check to see if the
problem is indeed resolved.

Thanks kindly for everyone's help & support!
