I would like to forward to a public DNS not my ISP, I rather connect to a
large backbone. Reliable DNS (Canada) Any suggestions?

Type this at a command prompt:

ping -a 4.2.2.4

That's pretty funny Eddy :-) I don't think he understands the issue.
ihavenut, you can't really point to another public DNS server, because
people don't normally setup public DNS servers for others to resolve
against - at least none that I know of. Some people "know" of public DNS
servers from there work (etc) and keep that information with them or share
it with there friends. Actually, it is something that is entirely possible.
They have free zone hosting, free email, almost free everything else - why
not a free public and "reliable" DNS resolver. It's a fair question. I
think the answer is mostly because 99.999% of us get free DNS resolvers with
our ISP service. If your ISP's dns resolvers are no good, find another ISP
or help them find the issues. Then again, the issues you are having "may"
not be the ISP's fault - its hard to say from your post however. Cheers!

For other purposes. The ISP is great. Thanks Ed. I read your posts all the
time. :)

It's Genuity. They have big-ass DNS servers at 4.2.2.2 and 4.2.2.3.
People use them too often for service, hence the name on 4.2.2.4.

I have used (temporarily) Genuity, Cox and RoadRunner DNS servers in a
pinch but in principal it is not a nice thing to do. Genuity's are
easy to remember.

ahh. That is better. I could not get 4.2.2.4 to do any resolving so I
thought the name was a joke to ihavenut. x.2 and x.3 seem to answer queries
fine. Thanks :-)
