This has probably been asked/answered many times but I can't find the
answer so forgive me....... I'm trying to upgrade from NT4.0 SP6 to W2K
RC2. Upgrade will not commence - says that I need to be administrator.
However, I am logged on as administrator. What gives?

are you logged on as "local" or "Domain" Admin?
Must be "local".

But the domain Administrator account is a member of Domain Admins, which
is, by default, a member of the local Administrators group. I've never seen
a program require a logon as the local Administrator; when they've required
anything, it's just been a logon with an account that is a member of
Administrators.

Are you logged in to the default Administrator account?

Any chance anyone has altered the default permissions on the account?

Yep - got it going! Had to revise the user rights for admin - especially
the advanced screens that are not available until you check the advanced
box. Thanks for the help and suggestions.....

Under user rights for the administrator the administrator was not listed
as having been granted rights to access certain privledges/functions
such as "restore files and directories", "take ownership of
files/driectories", "modify firmware......", etc, etc. Some of these
policies are visible and available only after the box labeled "show
advanced user rights" is checked.
