I posted this on the networking newsgroup as well. I'm not trying to
crosspost everywhere on purpose just wasnt sure of the appropriate group
to do it.

I'm not an administrator, rather a software developer, so forgive my
ignorance on this problem.

I have a Win2k Server with DSL connected to it via one Network card.
The other Network card is connected to my LAN. I want to share the DSL
connection over the LAN for other systems running Win2k Pro and Win98.

Since the server is a DNS server and the clients need to be validated by
it do the clients still use obtain address automatically for IP AND DNS?
Or do I configure each client to Obtain IP addr automatically but
specify an IP address for a DNS server?

Does the DNS server network configuration for the adapter connected to
the LAN use Obtain addresses automatically as well or is it given a
static IP address as it's the DNS server (ie 192.168.x.x)?

Does the client setup differ depending of it is Win98 or Win2k?

I guess where I'm confused is how do I account for (in the client and
server networking TCP/IP config) for the server being the DNS.

thanks
