Summary - Win 2k server & IIS5.0???

Does anyone in their own words have a summary of why
a company should utilize Win2k running IIS5.0 as their
extranet and intranet.
FYI - MDOR is developing in Java, porting the HTTP servers
to BEA systems - (middleware product)
So our most of the Extranet servers will be serving up static content.
