Hi,

I recently installed win 2000 pro along with service pack 2. I set up the
system as a dual boot with win 98. My floppy drive works fine in 98 but in
2000 I get the following message:

"The disk in drive A is not formatted. Do you want to format it now"

I click yes but then it comes back and says formatting failed. Here is what
I've done so far:

- Removed the floppy controller and drive from device manager
- Loaded defaults in the Bios

I've tried several disks that work fine in 98 as I said before. Any help
would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,
Rael

I had the same problem, but after new motherboard it works fine.
I think you're motherboard is the old for w2k.
What is the speed of the pc?

Pentium 600 with 384 mb ram. I'd have to look to see exactly which
motherboad I have, but I can't imagine that its too old??? Although what
else would be causing the problem. Let me know what you think. I use 2000
at work and it runs great here at home so I hope I can solve this.

Thanks,
Rael
