Windows shutdown problem

hi,

I am using windows 2000 pro and evertime i want to shutdown the computer i
have several problems.
1. or he is not shutting down. (screen is getting darker and after
awhile it is again normal)
2. Or it is shuttting down but is taking about 15 minutes.
Does anybody knows what is going on.

Make sure you have APM (or ACPI) support enabled (it's not by default) in
device manager...
