Hi,

Before upgarding to w2k, I had each device with its own IRQ under
NT4.0 - now the PnP in w2k configured several on one, shared IRQ 11
(see below). Can it cause conflicts? I bet it can, but how do I change
them?

Peter

This happens when you have a fully ACPI compliant system. This is by design,
cannot be changed, and shouldn't pose any problems (as long as your system
is truly ACPI compliant)

(p.s. no need to cross post so much. )

I bet it can, too, but don't look for trouble :-)
If all the drivers are up to snuff (a big if), it HAS to work.
All drivers working with shared interrupts s MANDATED by the PCI spec.

Then, ipso facto, that STB video card (or more
likely the driver) is junk. Sorry, I know that
is not very constructive to say, but things like
that make me furious.

You're right that there is a lot of such junk out
there :-(

My Wintv card shares the IRQ 11 with a network card DEC21XXX and the
grafic
card (matrox g400). According to the hauppauge hotline the wintv card
needs
an own IRQ to wirk properly ( I have a picture but no sound ).

What can I do ??

bye Ralph

Simply said - Nothing :-(

My Video Card, some other PCI Cards and my TV Card are shring IrQ9.

All are working fine without one exception - WinTV and Video card :-(

Hauppauge didn't know about this problem - their answer was " soory we've
also no solution"

This damend irq sharing bases on Microsofts ACPI specifiaktions

You have to install Winn2000 as Standard PC and not as ACPI PC to be able to
change IRQs maually

Ciau
Kurt

If you find another solution please let me Know via E-mail!!

Umm.. it's actually Intel's specification. PCI 2.1 requires cards to
support IRQ sharing. If they don't, then it's the fault of the
manufacturer. This is not something new, it's been in the PCI spec for
years. It's just that OS's have not been supporting it fully yet, so many
manufacturers haven't bothered supporting it.

Hello erik - of course you're right - but this doesn't solve the Problem.

Even there is the option in W2k to get the irq list from Bios (it doesn't
load the bios settings

:-( and so I think Microsoft had also made some mistake in this OS
