No sound on internet help

Running Windows 2000 Prof., IE6. Sound once worked but just stopped.
Bought new speakers, speaker test works, can get sound in email sometimes but
not on net. Wondering if it is that IE6 is so outdated? Any help
appreciated.

I always start with the event logs and device manager.
