I am using ADMT to migrate users/groups/computers into a native Windows 2000
domain and I run security translation as well. However, users lost Outlook
profile and shared NT printers. We have to recreate them manually
afterwards. Is there any better way to avoid such painful work ?

Thanks,
Wensi

Thanks Tim.
However, the USMT is for Win95/98/NT, NOT for Win2K Pro. Most of my users
are using Window 2000 Pro in NT domain. Is there any other free tool ?

When we did ours we did a few extra minutes worth of work to retain the user
profiles. Logged in as local administrator, renamed the user's profile.
Migrated the workstation, logged in as the user once, then logged back on as
the administrator again, copied the profile.

May be easier to implement a roaming profile??

Yes. Dave's method is working very well. I give up using MS ADMT for
migration computer and security translation.
The reasons:
(1) security translation does not translate profile well and always with
completed with errors
(2) require local administrator right on client PCs. Some PCs have removed
domain admins from local admins. Error: " access denied"
(3) share file and printer must be enabled on PCs. Error: "unable to connect
\\PCName\Admin$, The RPC is unavailable .."

So I manually change logon domain from NT domain to Win2K domain, reboot the
PC, log on with the new user account and log off and log on with local
admin, copy profile from User Profiles of properties of My Computer.

Thank you all.
