The same exact thing happened to me as the above posting from David on
11/20/2000. Since I also called my OU "Infrastructure" and it became a type
of "infrastructureUpdate", I am wondering if this word causes the problem.
I attempted to delete the object with ADSI Edit, but it won't let me. My
current workaround is to call my OU "Infrastructure1", but that looks really
ugly. Does anyone has a way to delete this? Thanks.

Subject: Unknown Object... How to delete?
Date: 2000-11-20 13:58:31 PST
A while ago, I created an OU called Infrastructure in my Active Directory
tree. It was intended to hold the user objects representing my
Infrastructure department. I ended up not using the OU. Now I want to
pouplate the OU, but I noticed that its icon has become a dog-eared page
with a Window in it, and the object is now defined as object class
"infrastructureUpdate". When I right click on the object, the context menu
shows only Refresh, Properties, and Help. I can't delete it.
I assume that some event changed the OU object to an unknown object. I want
to re-create the Infrastructure OU but can't until I delete the unknown
object. But there is no apparent way to delete it through the MMC
interface.
Is it safe to delete this object? How can I delete it?
Thanks.

Thanks for the clarification. After further study, I now see that
Infrastructure is a system object.
I considered the possibility that I thought I created the OU, but it
actually failed and I just wasn't paying enough attention to notice. This is
possible, but I find it strange that David in his 11/20/2000 posting would
have made the same exact oversight.
> Sorry if we ended up claiming a desirable name.
Yes, "Infrastructure" is a desirable OU name. Knowing that I cannot have it,
I settled on "Infrastructure Resources".
Thanks again for your help.
