Hi,

I know the solution to this problem is simple, but I just can't get
it. Heres what it is, I was working with Win98 and winME and was doing
just fine. I uploaded and downloaded at good speeds. I then installed
XP and the trouble starts then and there.

First, my modem driver supplied by the manufacturer didn't work, so I
installed the Standard Modem Driver and it seemed that it did the job.
While I was impressed by the speed at which I downloaded, I didn't
notice that I wasn't able to send emails with big attachments. I
thought it to be some connection problem and never gave it enough
thought.

Then one fine day I thought of updating my site and tumbled upon this
whole trivial matter. It is a problem that is very specific and
persistent,

Whenever I try to send something upstream like an attachment or a file
thru CuteFTP or WSFTP, it sends exactly 8192 bytes if the file is
bigger than 8192 bytes and then waits till eternity i.e. timeout. If
the file happnes to be only slightly lower than 8192 bytes or 8kb then
it shows transfer complete at a fixed speed of 4.55 kbps ALWAYS and
does nothing, when I disconnect and open my FTP site folder, I find
the file only partially uploaded.

I use the following configuration

33.6 GVC Modem ( 1133VR)
Windows XP Professional

just to remind you again, it all works just fine in Windows ME and
Windows 98.

Is there any way that I can import the keys in windows 98 registry
which affect upstream connections.

If anyone in this world still uses Dialup with 33.6 kbps on XP then
could you kindly giude me about this lingering Nightmare.

Gaurav
