I was the one who got insulted first. I had legitimate and technical
concerns about Windows XP that I wanted to warn people. I did
not critize Microsoft (yes, Microsoft is monopoly), Microsoft's other
products (which are worse than windows), employees (who abuse other
companies' employees to resolve their bugs using their monopoly).

I am not gaining nor loosing anything by this post, other than
getting pissed. Some of you are vehemently defending Microsoft
for some reason.

Some of you said WinME is a horrible OS. What makes you think that
WinXP is far superior? At the least, same people wrote both
softwares. Nimda did not just hit the WinME yesterday. In my opinion,
WinME is not a good system, but not as bad as you bashed.

I installed WinXP on five systems: P4 1.3 Ghz 250MB RAM
(not many systems are newer than this), Athlon 1 Ghz 320MB RAM,
PIII 750 Mhz 320 MB RAM and 500 Mhz 256MB RAM and Celeron 550 Mhz
192MB RAM. Performance problems exist on all them.

Let me remind you again, I have been using Win2K at work from the
beta days.

Here is one's nightmare about upgrading to IE6 posted to PCMag.com.
He had a running system and upgraded to IE6 from IE5. Both of them
are Microsoft products, there is no excuse this should happen.
Of course, you "gurus" have plenty of time in hand fixing Microsoft's
problems.
-----------
I have just recently downloaded the new IE6 and I had many problems. I
originally had a IE5 plain version and thought I should upgrade. So I
did and it can't run properly. I have no Idea why. So I uninstalled it
and went with the 5.5 version and it still wouldn't run. So I have
tried to uninstall that one and now it won't uninstall using windows
or windows update. Does any one have a solution? What happend? I am
hoping I don't have to wipe the hard drive.
------------
I won't be responding to this post again. I have already wasted enough
time. So, please do not respond.

ill tell you why the whole win9x family sux ass. it has HORRID memory usage
thta ill explain. you have 3 types of programs windows will recognize: DOS,
16bit and 32bit. when you open up any of these, it creates a memory block on
your ram. when you open up a 16 bit, the same, and the same for 32 bit.
never crosses the, (IE a 18 bit program in a DOS memory block) NOW heres the
difference, in win9x, when you close those programs, windows does JACK SHIT
with that memory (it sits there with its thumb up its ass) whereas NT/2k/XP
reuse the memory (making them far superior to winME).

as far as your IE problem, ive been running IE 6 on win2k for about 4 months
now with no crashes at all (even with my works propriatary software that
interacts with IE, and is bugy as shit)...

correction on grammar - 18 = 16 ; never crosses the program types (IE 16bit
and DOS)

Since you folks are so unhappy with Microsoft products, permit me to suggest
that you not use them. Use something else -- something, hopefully, that you
will be happy with.

Too much time on thier hands from not having to clean up after viruses?

We have to remember that the main cause of the virus cleanups we all get
involved in are the sado's who actually write them. Yes, OS manufacturers
can do more to protect their customers - but it's the sad acts and script
kiddies who are wasting everyones time and money.

Cheers.

Yes there are bad people everywhere. But if OS's weren't so easy to
infect maybe it would take more than a 13-year-old to outsmart the
manufactures.

Right on Stan! I recently installed XP and I have been telling my network,
after working with XP for two weeks, that MS has produced it finest product
with this version. For regular business and networking... it is awesome!
The features go on and on. I just love the right click - send to cd burner,
the thumbnails view, the cmd.exe, the user interface itself is great! The
networking features are so easy! It has a built in firewall. Coupled with
my Linksys dsl router/firewall is is great! I just cannot say enough about
this OS. Everyday I find more and more. Just go to Microsoft's Knowledge
Base and search "How To" in the XP database and you will get a ton of
goodies.

Probably the best though is the NTVDM. In ME, my eide burner gobble a lot
of memory. My mouse movements were rough and the cursor hesitated a lot.
Now, in XP I can be burning, have Adobe Photoshop loaded, Outlook, be
downloading two wsftp downloads, have IE6 running and be editing in Word
2002 as if word were the only program open! Wow.... that's all I can say.

Yep couldn't agree more having gone thru every version of Windows since Win
3.00 XP is the best ever.

... least you're not bitter about your own inability to troubleshoot
problems, my guess is that you should leave setting up the systems,
including choice of hardware, to somebody who knows what they are doing -
I've been through about 6 different systems of my own in the last year - set
up countless other systems - all different parts - and had no problems with
win2k or recently XP, so clearly you are doing something wrong.

Naw. It would be if the statement was:

Since you folks are so unhappy with Bill Gates, permit me to
suggest...

Stan stated if you do not like Microsoft products do not use them. Or
to use your statement as an example.

If you have a Volkwagon and it breaks down on you all the time and you
do not like the body style, I suggest you do not buy another
Volkswagon.

Gosh a sample size of 6. Why don't you offer to help him fix his problem
if as you say it is so easy?
