Hey, why not just do what other people in this ng seem to be doing - buy an
operating system that's free! Thats what I said - go buy Linux instead of
XP... doesn't do the same job, isn't as user friendly, limited software
available etc etc etc... but their are firms out there prepared to charge
loads of money to sell you a free operating system.

BTW I not only run XP, 2k, NT Back Office and older MS products, but also a
couple of Linux servers - best place for Linux IMOA!

WPA is nothing like as bad as people are claiming - and (alright I was at a
presentation last week...) you CAN change the hardware configuration up to a
point - being ALMOST the whole machine. If the changes go beyond that, all
you got to do is phone Microsoft on their FREEPHONE number - and yes you can
bar CLI etc - explain why you've changed the hardware and hey presto! new
WPA key. I was at one of the OEM shows... many people same concern, all
walked away far more happy with the prospect of WPA and it's implications
for everybody.

Anybody thought that there might be a benefit? MS will be able to work out
what hardware we all use and make sure drivers work properly (NOTE: I'm not
holding my breath!!!!)

;-)

You can't buy it if it's free!

> all you got to do is phone Microsoft on their FREEPHONE number

I had assumed Microsuck would supply a toll-free 800 number for activation.

Relatively few people are aware that someone who offers an 800 number can
get the phone number of the calling party. This is unblockable.

If MS doesn't take advantage of this to build their database, I'd be very
surprised.
