Reboot the computer and hit F8 and choose safe mode and install in safe
mode.

That happened to me a few weeks ago on an IBM ThinkPad running Win 2000. It appeared to be a corrupted install. We
re-installed Windows and the problem went away. We never discovered the root cause of the problem.

SYMPTOMS
========

You run Setup.exe and enter the CD key and choose installation options. When
Setup.exe hands off to Acmsetup.exe, the system stops responding and
returns the
error:

Installation wizard couldn't find Acme setup

-or-

Setup error 530 invalid command line

Setup is unable to handoff to acmsetup

CAUSE
=====

Setup fails at the NTVDM level as installation is handed off to Acmsetup.

RESOLUTION
==========

On Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 and Microsoft Windows 2000 platforms, clear the
Temp
folder by removing any previous incomplete installation attempts.

On Windows 2000 platforms, boot into Safe Mode by pressing F8 when prompted
at
the startup of the system and select Safe Mode.

or

Try to manually start Acmsetup by typing the following command line:

"X:\disk1\SETUP\ACMSETUP.EXE /T *.STF /S E:\ /n "" /o "" /k "YYYYYYYYYY"
/b
1" (without the quotation marks)

where X = your path to Acmsetup.exe, YYYYYYYYYY = the CD key, and E = the
CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive letter.

Note: Your specific *.stf file will vary depending on the specific
product you
are installing. Search the \Setup folder of the product you are
installing
for the *.stf to use.

Example: For Visual Basic 6.0 Professional, you would use VB98Pro.stf.
