The save button to write data back to SQL database doesnt work.

We had someone write a Visual Basic app for us that would interface with a
sql server.

The person left before completely finishing the job.

One of the problems we are having is that while it pulls up all the data
properly for the SQL database, when you you a for to add or change info and
click "save" it says it is saving but it doesnt really save.

What could be causing this issue? If it is missing code, what code should be
put in?

There is no update implemented in the program.

The only solution, hire a VB (for Net) developer (In whatever way)

It sounds to me that you actually need a VB ( 6 ) or ( .Net ) coder ( it is
unclear if you are talking about a VB app or a VB.Net app )
so hire a coder and let him do some bug tracking with the remarks you have .

or post the code somewhere ( make it downloadable ) and ask if someone
wants to have a look at it , someone might be willing to spend a few hours
and fix it for you

that too?
Putting code on Internet hoping that somebody will solve the problem, while
you don't understand what is solved.

No but the company i work for has at there Dutch branch alone 4 fulltime VB
Developers at its service throughout the world they might have more as
hundred persons in there dedicated it staff
and our software is disclosed software .

There are thousands of coders out there actually making a living of that
fact ever visited rent a coder ? or devguru or or or ........ there are a
few dozens of those sites
ever heard about the operating system Linux ? or what about Sourceforge
or codeplex ?

If your car has a misfire , do you care about the details why it misfired do
you start a course automotive engineering just to know what the OBD II
protocol stands for ?
i guess not , i guess you trust the mechanic and just pays his bill

They expect that the projects are finished and that they work in a certain
time frame , what more can they expect ?

how much code i have personally written to solve someone elses problem for
free , just because i liked the person or because i liked the competition to
solve the problem is hard to count :-)

I assume that you won't say I don't simply look at VB-tips.com and see how
much self created code I have dropped in these newsgroups (although
VB-tips.com needs definitely again redesign where we probably will use
Silverlight)

However, I do that for professionals or at least developing hobbyists.

Here we have the change that a developer is kicked out and somebody realize
himself now that he has a problem.

As that is the case then ....................... I hope that you understand
what I want to write.

If i read the OP`s message i read the story of a company that was left
behind with a incomplete ( unfinished ) app ,
maybe it was the coder who was looking for new challenges or bigger fortune
.

Instead of beeing kicked out , or it might be a coder who was fleeing from
