I am installing VS.NET on a Windows 2000 Advanced Server which has...
C:(FAT) 608MB Free (The System partition. eg: the boot.ini resides here)
D: (NTFS) 3500MB Free (The Boot partition. eg: the W2K installation
resides here)
but no matter what components of VS.NET I try to install I always receive
the error...
Error 1711: An error occurred while writing installation information to the
disk.
The Readme file suggests that this may occur if I have less than 600MB free
on the system drive but there is enough space available (608MB).
I have tried reformating and doing a clean install but I still get the same
error.
Any ideas?
Thanks
It seems that you are cutting it close.
I have seen this error on systems where the free space was close.
I suggest that you try to free up a little more space on the drive and try
again.
Also, and please don't take this wrong, make sure you are not installing to
the C drive as there is not enough room on the C drive to install the
software in.
So, free up a little more space on C drive and make sure the default
installation folder is the D drive.
If this does not help, please search for the file errorlog.txt and zip up
and attach to this post.
Thanks
