One reason for a hang is Anti-Virus and Firewall software. What I normally
do is disconnect my machine from the intenet, then disable IIS Admin, World
Wide Web, and my anti-virus and firewall software. Then I execute my
install.
If you are on Windows XP, you can use msconfig.exe to stop all services
except the two essential and the windows installer service.
Can you also forward the verbose log found in the %temp% directory.
Start > Run and type %temp% and then click Ok
Locate and compress the vsmsilog*.txt file
