Hi,

This is my Environemnt.
Windows XP Professional version 2002 SP3
Visual Studio 2008 Professional Edition Version 9.0.21022.8 RTM.
Microsoft Office Standard 2007

I tried to install Visual Studio SP1, but I got this error.
Patch (.........\Microsoft Visual Studio 2008
SP1\WebDesignerCore_KB950278.msp) install failed on product (Microsoft Office
Standard 2007). Msi Log: Microsoft Visual Studio 2008

Studio 2008 SP1_20090625_120356712-Microsoft Office Standard 2007-MSP0.txt

I looked at the Microsoft Visual Studio 2008
SP1_20090625_120356712-Microsoft Office Standard 2007-MSP0.txt file.

Here is the error...

MSI (s) (B0:C8) [12:05:33:439]: Product: Microsoft Office Standard 2007 -
Update 'Hotfix for Office (KB950278)' could not be installed. Error code
1603. Additional information is available in the log file C:\......\Microsoft
Visual Studio 2008 SP1_20090625_120356712-Microsoft Office Standard
2007-MSP0.txt.

MSI (s) (B0:C8) [12:05:33:454]: Product: Microsoft Office Standard 2007 --
Configuration failed.

I looked at the Hotfix for Office (KB950278) info on the web site...it seems
only to apply for Office 2003, which I don't have in my machine.

I searched all over web, but couldn't find any solutions for it.
BTW, I don't have any pre-release or beta version related with Visual Studio
in my machine ...
Also , just to make sure, I have run the Visual Studio 2008 Service Pack
Preparation Tool, but no luck...

Any clues?..how do I install VS SP1 in my machine?

Thanks,

How are attempting to install? Did you download the complete SP1 and attempt
to install it from your local environment?

If you're trying a web install and not the above, do the above. Here's the
link to the full download:

So, you downloaded the ISO, then either burned it to DVD or mounted it in
virtual optical drive software, correct?

When you ran the installer, did you get the same error message as from the
web install or a different one? If different, what was it?

Hello everyone...
Even i am getting exactly the same error with the only difference being the
os i.e. vista in my case(i know that doesn't make a difference)

The error comes while installing the same file i.e. KB950278

The log file says...

Patch (G:\DVD1 (Z)\vs90sp1\WebDesignerCore_KB950278.msp) install failed on
product (Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007).

Is there a problem with my office (even that is enterprise edition as seen
above)

Yes, i did the same way. I even tried installing the file directly but again
an error comes with error number 2902.

Please Help.

I think I have figured out what the problem is here. In my original
installation of Office 2007, I upgraded my office 2003 to 2007. There may be
some remnants of the office 2003 installation where the Visual Studio 2008
SP1 installer believes that Office 2003 is still on your machine. I simply
reinstalled Office 2003 and patched it as much as I could and then re-ran the
installer and it upgraded to SP1 without a problem.
