I just recently installed it on our server. I've been a one-developer show
for a few years but have now grown to the point of needing to hire. I want
to be prepared for managing my source code - so I've purchased and installed
VSS.
In testing, I think I messed up. My source code is in VS6 (and some in
VS.net). For the first application, I copied my source files from my
server to my development PC, loaded the visual studio project and created
the new VSS project via VS. This seemed to work.
On the second project (here is where I might have screwed up), I didn't copy
the source files from the server to my dev pc - but instead loaded the
project directly from the server. Then migrated it to VSS.
I found that my actual VS project's directory structure wasn't exactly like
I wanted it (and found no way to alter this from within VSS) so I just
deleted the project from VSS. Now my project is locked on my server. Even
tho there isn't a VSS project for the app anymore, when i load it into
visual studio I can't modify my files.
What can I do to get it completely removed from VSS - so that I have full
access to my files again? I did notice that the read only attribute is set
on all the app's files. Is all I have to do is to reset the readonly att?
Next, what is the correct way to remove a project from VSS?
(more questions to come I suppose.... ;))
