I am currently trying to visually format a Visio template in the same manner
as my other MS Office docs using a specific font family that I have installed
on my computer. The font appears fine in Excel, Word and Powerpoint but it
does not even show up as a selectable font from the drop down font menu in
Visio. I have updated all of the programs to office 2007 and everything is
licensed. Any suggestions?

Is this a TrueType font or OpenType? Visio supports TrueType fonts.

It's DIN... I believe that it should work. No?

DIN is just the German standards organisation, I assume you mean the
font family called DIN-.....
Are the fonts installed in the Windows/fonts directory?
Does the icon for the font show the letters TT, O, A or a or something
else?
