Serveral of my recepients of my flowcharts do not have
access to viso and therefore canot open my flowcharts. Is
there a way that I can convert a Viso file into a Word Or
Excel file?

Do they need to edit, or just view?

If just viewing...try the free Visio Viewer. Or, I've had great success
sending Visio to EMF and then insert > picture > from file into Word.

Good Luck!

Can you not just cut and paste the diagrams into Word?
I don't think that you need Visio to view it then. Of
course they cannot edit it, but I assume that that is
not a problem.

If you just paste then a Visio object is stored in the
Word document. You can do Edit -> Paste Special ...
and then choose Picture (Enhanced Metafile) which will
include only the image (in a vector format).

>REPLY: What version of Word do you have? You should be
able to open a word document and use the insert command
to place a graphic of your vidsion document in the word
document. Select INSERT, OBJECT and select Visio drawing
from the drop down list. This opens a blank viso page
and the visio "open file" dialog box. Use the dialog box
the same as you would to open a drawing (.vsd) file.
This works if your visio file is only one page. If it's
multiple pages, only the first page is inserted. I
usually place text box containing a space in each corner
of the visio page I am inserting: otherwise, the insert
tends to trim at the outside edge of the drawing.

For multiple pages, try using the visio "save as" options
and see if you can save the file as HTML or Jpeg. Then
the person you wsant to send to can view with internet
explorer.

Hope this helps.

Easier and better to Insert|Object...Create from file,
pointing to the Visio file of interest. This method even
works for multiple page Visio files... However, one must
link the Visio file initially in the Insert Object
dialogue. Once the Object is placed, put it into edit
mode, change page, exit, then break the link. Another
option at this point, depending somewhat on the version
of Word, is to save as a web page from within Word. The
resultant files generated can be viewed either in Word or
IE and (from Word 2002 anyway) are VML with a gif backup
for older browsers.

When saving a Visio file, you also have the option to save
it as an image such as a .bmp or .jpg.
