I am trying to set the text boxes as one layer so when I need to, I can hide that layer and print a network diagram without the server or networking details listed on the printed page (for audits). Each time I try this, when I remove that layer, the image and text disappear. What am I doing wrong.

Why are you removing the layer? Removing the layer will remove all the shapes on that
layer.
Format the shapes to remove the layer first, then remove the layer.
