Can't paste Visio drawings into Word anymore

I've used Visio 5.0 for several years. I often paste
Visio drawings into Word documents. I recently upgraded
both Visio and Word to 2000. My old Word documents that
contained pasted Visio drawings look fine, but if I try to
paste new ones in from Visio, they're never quite right.
Often, the fonts are wrong, and I loose attributes on the
text (bold, etc.) Bitmap images have incorrect colors and
fill patterns of shapes are missing. I've tried saving to
the various bitmap formats (BMP, jpg) and get different
results, but none of them satisfactory. I should never
have upgraded!

Can anyone suggest what I might do about this?

Thanks.

It may be printer driver problem. If You have a printer, try to re-install
it or get the newest drivers and re-install.

Thanks, but I had already tried that. I installed the HP
Laserjet 4 driver and set that as the default printer.
Same results. I notice that I get somewhat better (though
not perfect) results if I choose an "output format"
of "Powerpoint" for the document. I still don't get the
right font or font attributes (such as bold) though.

Any other ideas?

When Word 2000 came out the Paste function defaulted in many cases to HTML.
Now I use Edit/Paste Special and choose different formats depending on my
needs. I would try to Paste As Microsoft Visio Object without linking, but
you may have to experiment. I took out my graded fills 'cause they didn't
translate well, and had to reedit the pasted picture inside word to correct
other formating (which actually worked well).

Good luck, Tim

Instead of pasting directly from Visio to Word, why not
save the Visio graphic as a different file format--such as
emf or GIF--then open Word and insert the new file? Works
for me!

You might need to consider fonts before coverting to
different file formats. It's best to stick with the "safe"
True-Type fonts such as Arial and Times New Roman, which
translate cleanly at 9 pt or greater size. Smaller font
sizes may not convert as neatly. (I won't try to figure
how this happens between two Microsoft products!)

Also, if you're using an extended or non-standard palette,
you might have better results reverting to a standard
palette, such as a 256-color, or, best yet, 16-color
standard.
