I have 6 Autocad drawings (building plans with office layouts) that I need
to insert into Visio and edit there but frankly they come in with way too
much information. How can I remove what I don't want and keep the rest?
Could you please reply with baby steps as I have to say that I do not find
Visio intuitive in any way under Help on this subject of CAD drawings -
thanks - bmck...@mccarthy.ca

Go to whomever authored the AutoCAD drawings and simplify them ther or in
another CAD program and re-export out the simpler file for your use.

If the original drawing has been made with layers (it is often the case), in
visio you can suppress the layers that are not of interest. All the shapes
belonging to the layers will also be deleted.

For information, i have made an ACAD to Visio Converter supporting all dwg
format til 2006 that have settings for not converting block with lot of
entities (interesting for preventing the conversion of bitmap to thousand of
line in logos for example). Contact me on my personal email if you want
information.
