copy and paste vector selection error

I am on a multi layer document, and on a vector layer trying to copy
an object from that layer to another place on the same layer. The
layer is active and I select the object using the selection tool. Once
the selection border is over it I right click and COPY, then move the
cursor to a new location, on the same layer and right click again and
Paste as a vector object is not vailable, there are no paste options
that I can see. The object is still highlighted.

Im sure Im just missing something simple
