Inserted visio object scales ladscape drawing to portrait object??

Hi.

I have a Visio object that has a landscape page setup. I imported it into
word (as object from file) as well as exported it to a gif.

it looks like it outputs a portrait shaped object and scales the landscape
drawing to fit it.

Why does it do this I have tried almost every thing
