I have created a number Company based templates (Visio 2003) and I would like
these to be available from File New. They have been saved in the appropriate
area, i.e. C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Visio11\1033 but I cannot access
thru' the menu. Similarly, I have 2 new stencils but cannot find these
either unless I go to Explore and open from there.

In Visio 2002 you could assign your own specific templates to the dropdown
menu and also add your own specific stencils to Visio Extras but I cannot
seem to find how to do this now. I have referred to Version 2002 manuals to
no avail.

I would be very grateful if someone could provide an answer for me.

Many thanks.

Create a directory for your templates and place the templates in a sub
directory. Add this new directory to the file location within Visio.

Tools --> Options --> Advanced Tab --> File Paths... button

Remember to use the file path to the directory that contains the sub
directories rather than the actual subdirectory. The subdirectory
names are used within Visio to seperate the templates.

You can create a preview by creating a sample drawing in the template. To
keep the preview, but have an empty template, change the flag to create a
preview and then delete the sample drawing. Of course, it is better not to
do this on your master copy of the template.
