Can I somehow allow duplicates in an organization chart? I am making "tree"
diagrams for assemblies and an organization chart works perfectly, except it
doesn't allow duplicates?

Thanks for any help.

Cheers!

It sounds like you are doing an Org Chart of Positions or Roles, not of
Personnel.
Consider re-formatting your input data so that Personnel occupy Positions or
Roles, since cloning people is not yet a scientific reality :-)

I am trying to something similar but need to have a single person working to two different managers and also employees who work varying amounts of time to different managers. Is there a simple way to allow duplicates. I do not want to have to start entering the % of time with each name to make them unique as it will become too complicated.

Thanks for any advice
Chris

The Visio wizard only recognizes one reporting path, so you could get around
it by creating a John-A and a John-B.

Alternately, you could create an extra field in the users record in Excel
called AlternateBoss. This can then be added to the Shape Data/Custom
Properties of the individual. Now the fun part. You can then write some VBA
code to find individuals that have an alternate boss and create a line
between them and their alternate bosses. You can then export the orgchart
and the AlternateBoss will be preserved. Of course, the next time you import
the list, the alternate boss reporting lines will be gone, but you can
recreate them with the VBA code you used the first time.

I did a blog three years ago about changing the reporting line patterns that
should give you some ideas for the code.

I will blog in more detail on how to have an alternate boss.
