I'd like to create a 3D diagram in Visio 2007 that uses 3D Box shapes with my
company color scheme. When I assign a color to a 3D Box shape, all faces of
the box turn the same color. How can I create 3D boxes in a custom color
without losing the 3D shading? Where can I find a good explanation of how
Visio 2007 colors, color palettes, and themes work?

The "3D" shapes are really no such thing, they are grouped shapes with the "3D" parts
being just plain shapes that have part of their geometry contolled by an external
vanishing point.
Open the document explorer, find the shape and look at the shapes within the group. 2 of
them will belong to the 3D Depth layer, the other sahpe is the front part of the shape.
This is probably the one you want to fill. So select this part of the shape in the
explorer and us e the fill/format as normal. The 3D depth shapes have formulae that derive
their colour from the front shape and the formulae are guarded. Come back and ask if you
want to modify these.
