Is there any way to edit "part" of the text entered in an off-page reference?
You can select it and type, but that replaces the entire contents. We were
able to do this in previous versions, but not now in version 2003.

Well it seem workion also in Visio 2003. You must select the text use the
arrow to go to the end of the text and ad the part o text you need.

Thank you for responding, however we have been able to edit in most Smart
Shapes, but still not the "Off Page" Reference shape. If we single click, it
selects the off page shape and if we double-click it works as the link that
it is and takes us to the next page. Can't seem to be able to get a cursor
in there to edit the text.

Any other suggestions?

Wanda,

I have an even more basic problem: I want to create a note with text to link
to a shape. I use Visio for brainstorming. I can create a shape that
represents an idea; I can label the shape/idea. But I want to explain the
idea off page. Do you have any suggestions? In Mindject you can create a
topic (shape) attach a note icon to the shape and when you click on the note
icon the text appears.

Thanks

if you select the offshape and select the text tool, does the cursor turn to

You can use the "Insert hyperlink" in the insert menu

YES!!! Thank you soooo much. I will get back to you on your other question.
I don't know that I will have an answer since I didn't know the answer to
this simple text edit thing, but I'll take a look.
