Internal Error #2131 Action 1283: Open File

I've read other posts on this error, however none actually answer the
question as to whether this is a repairable error. Is the file corrupt? I
can see a picture of the drawing in preview in explorer; is this just an
image file? Or is the drawing still there? I tried all of the different ways
to open suggested in the troubleshooting article. Is there a way to repair a
damaged file?
