While attempting to test the import capability (using the
VISIO 2002 Professional demo version), I tried to use an
ERWin model.

The suffix required by VISIO is .ERX, which is no longer
the ERWin suffix (version 4.0 uses .ER1).

Does VISIO support the newer version which is now in
general distribution, and if not, when is it scheduled to
do so.

Thanks.

Hi Rich,
Unfortunately Visio does not support the newer version of ErWin (ER1). As you mentioned we support the ERX format. Currently your option is to export
your ErWin model as an ERX file and import it into Visio.

Actually, Erwin 4 no longer supports the .erx file.
The .erx file was phased out and replaced with XML. Yow
cannot open an Erwin 4.0 model in Visio.

I tried to export from Erwin with .xml extension, but Visio only can import
.vsd, that is a special type of XML. What can I do? Is that a plugin or
something like that ?
I am more one that would like to import a *.er1 file to visio....

As mentioned earlier, Visio only supports importing ErWin models in .ERX
format. Unless you can export your ErWin model into this format you'll not
be able to import it into Visio.

Ramesh.
