I know this is unsupported, and I know that many of you have done this...

I had no (well, a little) trouble in creating a DOS 6.22 VM on one of my Windows Server 2008 R2 Hyper-V servers. I've got the VM additions from VPS2004. When I add VMADD396.sys to config.sys and reboot, the VM hangs. Does this mean that the VM additions can't be installed in a Hyper-V DOS VM?

VMAdditions work with VPC/Virtual Server. They do not do anything for you with Hyper-V. In fact you need to remove VMAdditions before using the .vhd file with Hyper-V (or VMWare etc).

any earlier vmadditions other than HV's own intergration services are detrimental to any guest on HV.  however with xp guest, you could uninstall vm additions while running in HV albeit with some pain.

Bill's advice should be heeded to save time and trouble
