I can ping other computers in the workgroup (no Domain setup yet) from the
Hyper-V server but cannot see the Hyper-V server from the my Standrd Server
2008 Hyper-V Manager. Once for about 3 minutes when I selected "connect to
other server" and entered the IP address, the actual computer name showed up
all was well. Then it stopped and never returned.
Is there a firewall I need to open on the Hyper-v server (standalone). None
of the documentation mentions it. How wopuld I disable/modify/check the
firewall settings. I'm not that familiar with command promps anymore.
Also, this may be off track here, but the hyper-v documentation for Server
2008 Core mentions to type in Start /w ocsetup Microsoft-Hyper-V, but that
command returns an error when I rtun it in the Hyper standalone version.
Been at this for 3 days... help!
Yep, it's the firewall.
Here's one article on it:

there are others for setting up hyper-v server too...just google and
you'll find bunches.
