I had an issue where one of my clustered Hyper-V VM's disappeared. I
suspect it had something to do with our antivirus software as described in
KB961804. I did not realize this was the issue until after I recreated the
VM. Now I have two VM's with the same name and I cannot delete the old one.

When trying to delete the VM, I get the following:

An error occured while attempting to delete the selected virtual machine(s).
You might not have permission to perform this task.

Also when trying to access the settings for the VM, the following message is
displayed:

Cannot access the settings for the seleceted virtual machine.
You might not have permission to perform this task.

Any ideas on how I can get rid of this old VM?

Thanks

Locate the physical files for the VM and the VHD.

Change permissions (you may need to take ownership of the files).

Delete the files in question.
