I have a couple different Linux images (Fedora 3 and Ubuntu) that
usually work fine. I recently got a new machine with 2GB of RAM (for
VPC usage!) and upped the RAM on all of to machines above 512MB. The
Solaris machine boots fine, but both the Linux machines won't boot --
they stop during the boot -- no error, just stops. The same happens
when I boot with the install or rescue images.

When I change the amount of RAM below 512MB, they both work fine. Has
anyone see this before?

I'm using VPC 5.1.2600 SP1

This is a known bug - and you can have up to 624mb assigned to a Linux
virtual machine. This has been fixed in Virtual Server 2005 R2.

Thanks for the reply Ben. Excuse the newbie question, but is there
any hope of getting this fix in VirtualPC or is Virtual Server
replacing VirtualPC? For what I need to do, 624MB is not enough.

Virtual Server is a companion program designed to run server operating
systems in a server host. There has been no announcement of a VPC Next or
how it might improve.

Virtual Server is not replacing Virtual PC - and it is highly likely
that this fix will be available in the next release of Virtual PC.
