Yes, as I stated, I didn't expect NAT was the answer, but I am grasping at straws here. Yes, I did try a static address in case DHCP was the culprit.

Right now, I have two NIC's configured in the VM. One the Intel emulator with a static address, and the other using the NAT connection. I can connect to the Internet, but any attempts to join the domain fails immediately saying it cannot find the DC.

What domain are you trying to join? Where is the DC?

I really must ask why you have two NICs in the vm. What networks are
they connected to?

Hi Ian,

I solved the problem:
Verify that you have version 12.4 of the Intel PROset driver installed on
the host system. Then install SP3 for XP on the VM (search for "XP Service
Pack 3" in MS Downloadcenter).

Yes, that sort of problem is almost always a problem with the driver for
the NIC in the host OS. Virtual Machine Network Services has to interact
with the driver for the physical NIC to get the networking between virtual
and physical networks going.
