hook up calendar to a customer record

Is there a way in which I can link an entry in calendar to a database
entry
For example. I create an appiontment for MR Dokes on a certain date.
when I click on Mr Dokes
entry a "cardfile" opens up where I can type in any data that i want
to remember about Mr dokes.
When I close or dismiss that entry the information is kept on record
until i need it again
