Hi,

I have a problem with RPC communications that presents itself through a
DTCPing Test as follows on the client side:

RPC test failed

and presents itself as follows on the server side to the client:

The 2 were communicating fine in December 2008, but now I just cannot seem
to be able to get the source of the problem. The environment in which these
2 operate:
1) Windows 2003 SBS Server as domain server running on the single NIC option.
2) Server to which RPC communications are needed (end aim is for DCOM to
work between the two) is running Windows Server 2003 SP1. No matter whether
we have the Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) service
running or not on this server, the communications failure continues.
3) Client from which RPC communications initiated is running Windows XP
professional SP3
4) The Group Policy settings on the domain server allow for administrators
on the client computers to define windows firewall exceptions
5) There is a proxy server (ISA Server 2006) running the single NIC option
on the network.
6) Antivirus firewall disabled.

The only thing of significance that has changed on this network since
December 2008 is the migration of the internet proxy server to a new virtual
server.

I have run portqry tests as well and get the following from the server:
PortQry Version 2.0 Log File

System Date: Thu Mar 12 11:15:16 2009

Command run:
portqry -n Grdskdel030 -p tcp -e 135 -l finsvrtoDSK030.txt -v

Local computer name:

GRFINSVR

Querying target system called:

Grdskdel030

Attempting to resolve name to IP address...

Name resolved to 172.16.2.10

querying...

TCP port 135 (epmap service): LISTENING

Using ephemeral source port
Querying Endpoint Mapper Database...
Server's response:

RPC query failed (5).

The results from the portqry test on the client produces results, but none
of them include any ncacn_ip_tcp results.

I would appreciate any help to decipher where the problem is and what I can
do to resolve it.

I look forward to hearing from someone.
