Windows installer is running wild on startup!!

I have recently updated windows xp from windows update. I have installed
service pack 3, among other things. After that I installed Regcure error
cleaning software and cleaned out all of my errors. Now every time I start XP
windows installer tries to install a fax program and organize photos. I can't
seem to stop it!!
What can I do?
