I recently learned that the UnDecorateSymbolName() function in dbghelp.dll
does not correctly undecorate some symbols created by the new Visual Studio
.NET 2003 C++ compiler. The undname.exe utility shipped with Visual Studio
.NET does correctly undecorate the symbols, but it apparently uses an
undocumented function __unDNameEx that is defined in msvcr71.dll.

My application needs to undecorate C++ symbols obtained from VS .NET DLLs.
If UnDecorateSymbolName() won't work, I would like to use the __unDNameEx
function. Does anyone have documentation for this function?

Thanks, Kobi. I was the originator of that thread that you referenced. It
was that thread that inspired me to start this thread. I should have
included a reference to it, but I wasn't sure the best way to do it.

Erik,

ooops :) sorry about that.

I understand there is no "correct" solution for your problem from MSFT
response. The only way maybe is to try disassemble msvcr71.dll/undname.exe
and understand how to use __unDName/__unDNameEx. But I don't think that's
legal :)

Anyway, good luck and if you find solution please update this thread, so
others can also benefit.
