Email field in Resources field is blocked

Hello,

I'm new at Project and would appreciate your input. I am building my
resource list and when I attempt to enter an address in the "Email Address"
column, it's blocked. I opened up the individual resource box and the email
field there is dimmed.

Any idea why and how I can correct it?
