I'm trying to build application help files using DevStudio
as described in the Help article "Help: Compiling and
Testing Your Help File." I'm running VC++ 5.0 on
Windows NT 4.0. I build an application using App Wizard
and setting the "Context-Sensitive Help" option. I then
compile the generated .hpj file from the Build menu. But
rather than compiling, I get a dialog box that says "Cannot
find or run C:\PROGRAM FILES\HELP\HCRTF.EXE." The file
hcrtf.exe is actually there. Has anyone seen this problem,
and can let me know what's going on? Thanks in
advance.

Try running HCW directly and opening your HPJ file from within it (it will call HCRTF).
If you are using Word 97 to create your topics, you need version 4.03 of HCW at least
(it breaks the earlier versions). You can get the update from a link on
http://www.guysoftware.com/helllp.html if you are using an earlier version.

Thanks for getting back to me. I did try running hcw.exe;
and hcrtf.exe (which just runs hcw.exe). Same thing. I'm
also using the 4.03 HCW. I just reinstalled using the
hcw403.exe extraction package. As far as the Word version,
I'm actually just trying the unmodified files generated by
the App Wizard.
