Hi NG,
I have created an application using mfc. But my problem is that I'm not able
to create the setup program for the same application using installshield
wizard supplied with visual studio. The project has a static library
inserted in it. Is it still necessary to set some kind of dependencies (I
guess????)? Once I was able to create a setup but it used to run only on the
machine on which the setup program was created. When I tried running the
setup on some other machine it could not even complete the installshield
initialization step. Can any one pls help me to create a setup program or
suggest some site where I can find the steps to do the same?

Thanx in advance

Hi Rohit,

There are a lot of installation programs you can purchase. We use
InstallShield (the purchased one, not the free one), but I've seen people be
successful with Wise and the MSI stuff that is now built into Windows (it
can be downloaded if a user doesn't have the program built into a more
recent version of Windows. You are correct that the one they ship with VC6
is not that great.

You have to purchase these products. I have used Wise and am satisfied with
it. You can probably load the trial version. Here is the URL:

I should point out that a number of my clients, and myself, have had bad experiences with
InstallShield, and have gone to 20/20 or Wise as the installer of choice.
