This setting opens the Dropbox desktop app automatically whenever you start your computer. Your Dropbox desktop app must be open to sync changes between the Dropbox files on your computer and everywhere else you access your files in Dropbox.
This setting lets you enable LAN sync in your Dropbox desktop app preferences. If your computer is connected to a LAN, enabling this setting in the Dropbox desktop app will override your bandwidth settings and may speed up syncing for files stored on your LAN.
Selective sync is a feature in the Dropbox desktop app that allows you remove specific Dropbox folders from your hard drive so you can save space on your computer. Learn more about the selective sync feature.
The original Dropbox icon isn't simply a shortcut to your Dropbox sync folder. It's a shortcut to dropbox.exe. Now, when you trigger dropbox.exe, it starts the sync program. The sync program, when manually triggered, also opens the sync directory. If Dropbox is already running, triggering dropbox.exe will see that it is already running, and will not start another instance, but it still will open the sync directory. This is the reason why the original shortcut takes long while your shortcut is fast as you'd expect. Your shortcut is indeed just to open the folder, while the original one is a shortcut to a program, which then in turn opens the folder AFTER starting the sync or checking that it is running.
Well, indeed it is gtk2 based. But the set up window in the desktop application does not adhere to theme and font settings in gtk2, which I use. I thought I made it clear that I was not talking about the Dropbox web site. (That does not come from the AUR, does it? (irony))
Further findings; the settings accessible by right clicking the dropbox tray icon does follow gtk theme and font settings. It is the initial set up that does not, and that is crucial to the account and linking of the computer. Nothing works in Dropbox without the initial account linking from your computer in the desktop linux application. (just to be clear that the web site has nothing to do with this computer set up)

I would just drag the Joplin folder on DropBox to my Mac to restore the notes, but I have no idea where it's supposed to go. The sync folder has about 3000 .md files along with a "locks" folder and a "temp" folder. Neither the folder at /.config/joplin-desktop nor the one at /Library/Application Support/Joplin has anything resembling this setup.
Now I installed the Dropbox application on the Windows workstation, where I have installed the Netskope Client, where I have been doing the tests and it turns out, that when uploading a file through the App, I upload a file and the upload is completely successful. I thought it would stay forever trying to synchronize, but the 2 and 3 test files, via the Dropbox desktop application, works perfectly.

To use Dropbox on your desktop, you simply just put your files in the Dropbox folder. Everything else is automatic. Like most file-syncing and storage devices, your files will automatically be synced everywhere. They are available on any devices connected with an installed Dropbox app with a web browser.
Like the desktop app, you can organize all your content in one place. Whether it is traditional files, cloud content, Dropbox Paper, it can be stored on your desktop. You will easily be able to find what you need using Dropbox features like Starred files and folders, and intelligent suggested folders.
In your desktop app, you have a sidebar that will give you a list of folders that a smartly analyzed through Dropbox, where you spend most of your time and will likely need it. If you are running late for a meeting, you can go to your calendar, and it will populate what files you may need for your next appointment from the Windows system tray and Mac menu bar.
Step 2: To download and install the Dropbox desktop app on the following operating systems I mentioned above, go to this link. After downloading, you will be prompted to run the Dropbox installer.
Usually, the desktop app is automatically installed with admin privileges, but if you did not install with admin privileges, you could follow the steps below. If you do not have admin rights on your computer or using a work computer, you will need to ask the IT department for assistance.
Step 1: If you have already installed Dropbox without admin rights, you will need to uninstall the app. It will completely remove Dropbox from your computer. Once it is removed, the menu will no longer appear, and you will not have access to folders and files. It will not delete or remove the files from your dropbox folder. Smart Sync is a feature of the Dropbox desktop app that allows you to make files online-only to save hard drive space on your computer. You can choose which files to make online-only or let automatic Smart Sync choose for you.

A quick note for desktop developers looking into the Dropbox API: we aren't yet officially supporting desktop applications. We've been focusing our efforts on improving the API for mobile and web apps. We have long-term plans for an official desktop API that we hope will make integrating Dropbox into the desktop much easier. The good news is, while we continue to ramp up API support, there are a couple of ways you can add Dropbox to your desktop apps.
In a pinch, you can also take advantage of the syncing capabilities of the Dropbox desktop client apps by bypassing the API and reading/writing to and from the Dropbox folder. It's important to note that support of this method is intended for use with people running Dropbox desktop clients of versions 1.2 and below and will likely be deprecated in the future to make way for a more sophisticated Desktop API.

Dropbox offers mobile apps for Android, iOS, and Windows phone as well as on the Kindle Fire. Please visit the Dropbox mobile site to download and install the mobile app. Unlike the desktop Dropbox client, the mobile Dropbox client does not automatically sync your files to your mobile device.
You can add Dropbox as a save option when using Office 365 Online (Word, Excel, & PowerPoint). When using MS Office applications installed on your computer, Dropbox will appear as an option if you install the desktop application, but for Office 365 online there are a few more steps:
