I've been using BBC iplayer app on AppleTV for 2 years. Recently Iplayer was updated and the version of the app I had is no longer supported. So, I get an error message when I try and get into the app saying open in App Store and download the new version. I click on the link it takes me to App Store, I try and open BBC Iplayer and all that happens is that I get back to the previous screen saying my version is no longer supported. I have double checked with BBC support and they say it's an issue with apple as all my software versions are up to date. I've reinstalled and updated the software and even scheduled a call with apple support who then while I'm talking to them insist that I've missed my call. I'm really annoyed as I was mainly using the Iplayer app on my appletv and don't want to miss out. any ideas?
the app isn't broken, the app isn't downloadable in the App Store, surely that is an apple issue. If I click on any of the apps in the App Store and it doesn't open or download the app, how is that an issue with the 3rd party. BBC Iplayer support have said that everything is fine their end, they just stopped supporting the old versions of iplayer. surely App Store should be linking to the newest version of all apps?

Had exactly the same issue. After reading the string below I deleted the app off the Apple tv4 and deleted all the history. Checked the Apple software was up to date. Restarted the Apple TV. Reloaded bbc iplayer, signed in with existing details and it works perfectly. Only downside all past programming and watched shows are gone so you start again... certainly worth it! Hope it works for you!
I'm happy for my preschooler to have access to CBeebies on the iPad for occasional use, there are parental controls within the iplayer app itself. However the rest of the iPad is set up for child content only and it won't allow me to download iplayer as it's says it's 12+content. Apple advise merely increasing the age limit on the parental controls on the iPad which I don't want to do.
Has anyone navigated around this?
The BBC discontinued the RSS feed for iPlayer TV content in October 2014.[44] This stopped some third-party tools such as the get_iplayer[45] content downloader from working.[46] In March 2016, an unofficial site restored access to this information.[47][48][49]
