Dave,

I just bought this book yesterday. Obviously, I wouldn't be willing to sell
it to you, but I will emphatically say that it's worth the money. I've been
devouring it as fast as I can read, and I've picked up a lot from it
already.

Hi All

This may not be the best place for it but...

I am trying to get a hold of a book by Dan Appleman called "Dan Applemans
Visual Basic 5.0 Programmers guide to the Win32 API"

But firstly, a couple of questions..

1. Is it worth the A$89.95 ? (US$58.47) plus shipping costs ?

2. Has anyone out there got a copy they would sell to me ? (Especially in
the Melbourne area)

3. Does anyone know of a bookshop in Australia that has it for less than
A$89.95 ?

I know that ~$90 is kinda normal for a 1500 page Computer book, but I gotta
know if its worth it.

Any replies to here or my email address..

va...@c032.aone.net.au.remove_this_last_bit

would be appreciated

Thanks

Dave.

Hi Dave,

I believe the book is well worth the expenditure. My only regret is that I
didn't purchase the VB 3 version.

I have the book just before that addition VB Prog Guide to Win32 API -
Absoltely brilliant (so, sorry not for sale). Since this book is SOOOO
good, I'm sure the VB5 edition is great too. Definately worth whatever
that converts to in UK Pounds - It cost me about 50 pounds and was well
worth it.

I am working my way through Hardcore Visual Basic by Bruce McKinney. It is
very much geared towards manipulating VB and using the Win API via a type
library he provides. I like using the type library instead of the declares.
It feels cleaner to me.

For the 10th time this week Dan Appleman's guide to the
Windows 32 bit API for VISUAL BASIC programmers. This
title may be a bit off, but search for Appleman on www.amazon.com
and you will find it, don't you ever read this newsgroup ??

There is currently two versions of the book in print, one for VB 3.0 and
one for VB 5.0. Which one should I get if I am using VB 3.0 for Win 95 ?

Three versions. But, get the latest edition. Then upgrade
when you can, to VB 4(32bit) or VB5 . That way you will
get the most out of the Windows API.
