While trying to register a Webclass DLL on another machine using regsvr32
the following error message was generated:-

DllRegisterServer in <filename.dll> failed.
Return code was: 0x80004005

The production machine is Visual Basic 6.0, SP3, though it uses MSWCRUN.DLL
from SP1. The operating system is Wndows 2000 SP1.

MSDN has a similar problem:-

http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q183/7/48.ASP

But this refers to Visual Studio 97 and Visual Basic 5.0. The error message
is the same but no return code is mentioned. The problem revolved around the
MSVBVM50.DLL and different versions between machines.

Use filemon and regmon to help you track down the problem. Get it from
www.sysinternals.com

Those utilities are quite amazing.

Anyway with their help I could see that mswcrun.dll was not installed and
that it was accessed during regsvr32.
